This is Your Daily Tarot Map for Saturday, April 18th, 2015 – Using Tarot to create the life you want
Thanks to all!
Today concludes our work with The Tarot of Dreams illustrated by Ciro Marchetti. Tomorrow, we begin working with a new deck for the coming week. Tune in tomorrow to see what deck that is.
The three cards drawn today were: the 5 of Swords, Page of Cups and the 8 of Cups
So that’s two days in a row that a 5 has appeared in our first position, with today’s first card being the 5 of Swords. Remember that the 5’s represent the challenges of our life and the 5 of Swords is no exception. This is a card of mental anguish often the result of a humiliating defeat. This defeat can be of your own making or from someone getting the better of you, especially in a treacherous manner. Once we start internalizing this fear of inadequacy that results from that defeat, all sorts of new issues worm their way into our thoughts: agitation, confusion, self-doubt, dissipating energy, and feeling like a victim. What’s important now, is to detach yourself from the situation as much as possible. Collect yourself inwardly and put the event behind you as quickly as possible. Otherwise, it will thwart your future endeavors.
Though these events may be difficult for us, we learn from them, as illustrated by the Page of Cups for our second card. Pages are often associated with learning and this particular page symbolizes learning from our emotional experiences. If the situation associated with the first card is weighting you down, try approaching it with a light heart, with a child-like heart. When someone hurt’s the feelings of a child, they rant and rave and pitch a hissy fit – and a moment later, it’s over and forgotten, like it never happened. Let yourself experience your pain and then let it go.
And that is precisely what our last card, the 8 of Cups represents: walking away and letting go of that which does not serve you. This means leaving a toxic relationship or situation behind you, . This might be a call to reevaluate the people, situations, activities or distractions in your life, and to break away from those that take you away from your life path. Sometimes, we have to cut out the old and save ourself, in order to bring in something new, something more satisfying, something more aligned with our goals and values.
Now the message that I’m getting from these three cards is: “Examine whether your interactions with situations or others leave you empowered or disempowered. Then, consider abandoning those things that poison your soul.”
Today’s advice comes from the Enchanted Map Oracle by Colette Baron-Reid and the card drawn randomly from the deck is number 4: Spirit of Place
The Spirit of Place card asks you to examine your environment to see if any changes might be in order. I see this has tying in nicely with today’s reading in that if we find ourselves in a mentally or spiritually challenging environment, it is in our own best interest to change it or, if that is not possible, to leave it behind. Being around toxic people and situations will only harm our spirit in the long run. So today, spend some time surveying your circumstances and then take appropriate action.
