Daily Tarot Map for October 17, 2015

This is Your Daily Tarot Map for Saturday, October 17, 2015 – Using Tarot to create the life you want (transcript below).

Thank you for joining me!

This week, we are working with The Green Witch Tarot, created by Ann Moura with the cards illustrated by Kiri Ostergaard Leonard and the three cards drawn randomly from the deck today were: Nine of Chalices, Five of Chalices, Knight of Chalices

The three cards from the Green Witch Tarot by Ann Moura and Kiri Ostergaard

So I find it interesting that we had all fire cards yesterday and all water cards today. So emotions may be running high today. At the very least, I’m seeing perhaps some emotional ups and down.

The first card is our draw is the 9 of Chalices, a card often referred to as “the wish card”, as it signifies that you get what you wish for. It usually signifies happiness, success and feelings of fulfillment. This is the ultimate goal for many of us – simply to be happy, to be at a place in our lives where we feel content and satisfied with the way things are.

Now this might be easier said than done, as our next card, the 5 of Chalices suggests. Here we see a woman, pouring out the liquid from a chalice. Another empty one lies at her feet but there are three more in her basket. Will she empty them also or take them with her down the winding path?

This is a card of loss and regret and given that it’s next to the 9 of Chalices, tells me that this might be what’s holding some of you back. The 5 of Chalices is a card of past regrets, upsets and sorrows but they’ve wormed their way into your present and are now upsetting the apple cart, as it were.

Bitterness from a past relationship may be preventing you from pursuing a new one. Or the inability to forgive may be causing you undue stress. I see the role of this card as sign that it’s time to let go of those feelings of emotional disappointment or regrets. Such feeling do nothing to help us in the present and only cause us to cling to events that are long over. Perhaps the cups represent her regrets and she’s finally ready to rid herself of them.

It’s time to ride off into a new future, as suggested by our last card, the Knight of Chalices. If you notice in the spread, he’s riding away from the 5 of Chalices card and has turned his back on those things that caused him to cling to the past. He’s on his horse, moving in a new direction, his chalice held out proudly before him.

Now in some instances, this card can represent a lover coming into your life and as such, asks you to open your heart to him or her. We often are unable to move forward with someone new if an ex still is shredding apart our heart. It might be time to let go. Now if romance isn’t in your cards as it were, then the Knight of Chalices advices you to put the past behind you and look to the future. It’s the first step in attaining that 9 of Chalices status that many of us strive for.

Now the message for these three cards is:

“The first step toward freedom is to forgive the situation and realize that it’s over. It is not in holding on where we find happiness, but rather it is in letting go”

So today’s advice card comes from The Symbolon Deck and the card drawn randomly from the deck was: The Preacher.

Preacher card from the Symbolon Deck

Interesting card for today’s advice card. The preacher card relates to the inner therapist inside of us – that part of us that knows that we are stuck in a certain mindset and that refusing to budge is causing us more harm than good.

Like the preacher, sometimes we have to give ourselves a good old fashioned “talking to” to convince ourself that it’s time to move on and move past those old thought patterns. Maybe even turn to spirituality to help you release those old bonds. But for the most part, let’s allow ourself to remember and honor the past, appreciate the lesson we learned from and then hop on the horse with the Knight of Chalices and see what lies ahead for us.

That’s your Daily Tarot Map for today. Brightest Blessings!
