Using the Tarot for Creativity and Empowerment

Daily Tarot Map for September 28, 2015

This is Your Daily Tarot Map for Monday, September 28, 2015 – Using Tarot to create the life you want (transcript below).

This week, we are working with The Green Witch Tarot, created by Ann Moura with the cards illustrated by Kiri Ostergaard Leonard and the three cards drawn randomly from the deck today were: Two of Chalices, The Lady and the Lord, The Oak King

The three cards from the Green Witch Tarot by Ann Moura and Kiri Ostergaard

Today seems like it’s going to be an excellent day for relationships, no matter what kind and there may be a new journey beginning for some of you.

The first card in our draw is the Two of Chalices, the equivalent of the 2 of Cups. It’s a card of union, of harmony and partnerships. Here we see a man and a woman, arms intertwined, about to take a drink from their goblet.

They may be toasting their new relationship or partnership, or simply enjoying their time together. If there’s a proposal of any kind on the table today whether it be business or romantic, it might be worthy of consideration.

Likewise, if you’ve been thinking yourself of making a proposal to someone, today might be the day to do it. This could be a new idea or process that you want to propose to your boss, a proposal for a new book or even asking someone that you fancy out on a date. The Two of Cups or Chalices can signify a joyful beginning to new partnerships of all kinds, but first you have to commit.

And that’s what our second card, the Lady and the Lord may be telling us. This card is the equivalent of the Lovers card in the Waite-Smith tradition and portrays the coming together of the God and the Goddess or the Lady and Lord of nature. They have decided to come together here and venture off on a hunt from the looks of it.

Like the 2 of Chalices, this card is also about partnership and union but it’s also about decisions and choices. Great partnerships can never form if nobody makes a proposal. What I’m also seeing in these first two cards is the idea of a balanced and equal partnership. If you are thinking of making or accepting a proposal, you’ll want to ensure that the workload is equal and that one partner doesn’t end up doing all the work. Thus, some careful thought about your choices is called for here.

I think it’s important not to enter into any kind of agreement willy-nilly and to make sure you’ve done your research before entering into an agreement and have spent some time weighing your options. This idea is supported by our last card, the Oak King, the equivalent of the Waite-Smith Hanged Man.

This card often is about sacrifice – about getting rid of the old and making way for the new. Here’s where we see once again the decision-making process. This new partnership that may be coming your way, may require you to get rid of some baggage before you can enter into it. For instance, if you’re still lusting after your ex and are considering a new relationship: Don’t. Or you might be caught in the trap of comparing your new crush with your ex.

Again, we want to leave that baggage behind. You might even have to sacrifice some of your free time for this new opportunity or even move to a big city. Just as our Oak King here is letting go of all that doesn’t serve him, so may be need to be shedding those things that may weigh us down on the next step of our journey.

Now the message for these three cards is:

“Any partnership is like marriage: choose poorly, and all the effort and good intentions in the world won’t make it right. Mutual respect, understanding and balance are required for a successful long-term collaboration.”

So today’s advice card comes from The Symbolon Deck and the card drawn randomly from the deck was: The Mother.

Mother card from the Symbolon Deck

This card is associated with the sign of Cancer, which isn’t surprising considering the emotional tone of the cards today. The Mother card is about nurturing and devotion, of taking care of something so that it grows strong and secure. In light of today’s reading, this card very well could be reminding you that if you do decide to enter a new partnership and relationship, it will need care and attention for it to thrive. A garden won’t survive without proper tending to as the same can be said for relationships of any kind.

That’s your Daily Tarot Map for today. Brightest Blessings!
