Today, we continue our work with the Crystal Visions Tarot by Jennifer Galasso.

So the three cards drawn randomly from the Crystal Visions Tarot today were: 6 of Cups, 6 of Swords, Ace of Pentacles

The three cards from the Crystal Visions Tarot by Jennifer Galasso

The first card is the 6 of Cups, in which we see a woman reaching back to the child standing behind her in the water. This card is about nostalgia and happy memories. It often appears in a reading when there is a heavy focus on the past or the past is having a heavy influence on the present. With the two 6’s in the spread, I’m seeing a journey from challenging times to more harmonious times but it’s not an easy one. Sometimes being stuck in the past prevents us from living truly in the present.

I know many of us have that one person in the past that we loved with all our heart; that person we considered a soul-mate and for whatever reason, the relationship didn’t work out. I realize that we never forget our first love and that he or she will always have a special place in our life.

But there does come a point where we need to let go, especially if it’s preventing us from creating a future with someone new. We may have to move past that mentality of wondering & hoping when the person will come back.

This idea is symbolized nicely by our second card, the 6 of Swords, who has already graced our reading once this week. If you recall, this is about walking way and letting go of the past, especially if it’s regarding an event that’s sad or painful. Notice the light ahead of the woman on the card. This symbolizes that the future can be a positive place with new possibilities – happy possibilities – once we’re ready to embrace it.

The last card of our draw is the Ace of Pentacles, a card typically associated with growth and opportunity. However, this earthy card is ill-dignified by the airy card next to it, suggesting that there is a blockage here preventing you from experiencing the bounty that this card suggests.

Whether this be in regards to a romantic relationship or some other major event in your life, it does appear that this is keeping some of you stuck at the moment, perhaps feeling insecure. You may be so focused on holding on to the past that this may be causing opportunities to slip through your fingers.

So today might be a good day to take a good, hard look at your life and see if there is anything that is interfering with your present or your ability to move forward. Once we recognize these obstacles, we can then begin work on removing them.

So the message today for these three cards is:

Letting go is the realization that some people are a part of your history, but not necessarily a part of your future. It isn’t holding on that makes us strong, but rather it is in letting go.

So today’s advice card comes from The Symbolon Deck and the card drawn randomly from the deck was: Captivity

Captivity card from the Symbolon Deck

Okay, so it looks like we’re getting beat over the head with this message today so it may be something that some of you will want to especially pay attention to. Here we see a figure in a room with bars on the widow, representing loss of freedom and loss of movement, of being trapped and imprisoned.

That issue which we discussed with today’s cards may be keeping you stuck and locked up in the past. So it might be time to bribe the guard and make your escape.

That’s your Daily Tarot Map for today. Brightest Blessings!

Today, we continue our work with the Crystal Visions Tarot by Jennifer Galasso.

So the three cards drawn randomly from the Crystal Visions Tarot today were: Page of Cups, King of Wands, 8 of Swords

The three cards from the Crystal Visions Tarot by Jennifer Galasso

The first card is our draw is the Page of Cups. She’s is the dreamer, the imaginative, creative, childlike part of us. Unfortunately, she is ill-dignified here by the fire card next to her. That means that the part of us that lets our dreams run wild is blocked. This could point to shattered dreams, disappointment, feeling that you’re just not good enough.

You might have even suppressed the artist side of you in pursuit of power or prestige, as suggested by our second card, the King of Wands. This card is about being in control and power, about being goal-driven and ambitious. But what’s interesting here is that the water card on his left dampens this ambition whereas the air card on his right pumps it up and feeds it.

What I’m seeing here is a struggle between our artistic, creative side and our ambitious, practical, business side. I have a friend who gave up her art to pursue a career in the corporate world. Once she made the decision to put down her brushes, she never picked them up again. There’s been many times that she’s mentioned how much she misses her art but with her busy career, she just doesn’t have the time any more. This might be the situation that many of you are facing at the moment. Or perhaps someone in your life has succeeded in crushing your dreams by harsh words or severe criticism.

This idea of blockage is further reinforced by our last card, the 8 of Swords. My, my my, this card certainly has shown up a lot lately. It is also the strongest card in the spread today. If you remember, this is about being blocked, stuck, and unable to move. It can also be about confusion and inner-turmoil. In light of the other cards today, I’m getting a feeling that some of you may be self-sabotaging yourself or your dreams.

What I’m getting here is the need to not rush into any decision one way or another right now. We all make snap decisions that we regret later on. Is there a way that you can do what feeds your soul while still satisfying that ambitious, driven side of you? Can you incorporate the two somehow? Can you do both? Whatever is pulling you in two directions at the moment, don’t be too quick to go one way or another. This may entail a creative solution. Give yourself time to come up with one.

Now it’s worth mentioning here as well that I’ve also seen the first two cards come up together to represent a struggle or disagreement between a parent and a child or a boss and employee. The 8 of Swords as the last card suggests that you may be at an impasse right now. So if this does pertain to your situation, take a breather and allow both parties to cool down before attempting to find a solution. Again, be careful not to make any snap decisions in the heat of anger.

So the message today for these three cards is:

“We don’t necessarily have to choose one thing over another and lose part of ourself in the process. Coming up with a creative solution is the ideal solution.”

So today’s advice card comes from The Symbolon Deck and the card drawn randomly from the deck was: The Question of the Grail

Grail card from the Symbolon Deck

What a perfect card to have in light of today’s draw! The Grail card is about the endless search for answers. It’s our nature to want a definitive yes or no answer for the difficult decisions in our life. However, there is often no clear, cut and dry solution. Sometimes, there is no black and white. What’s necessary in this case, is a compromise of sorts, a willingness to blend different aspects together to find an acceptable solution.

But I will say that the grail made me think of the suit of cups in the Tarot, the suit of creativity and imagination, which does seem to be the topic of our reading today. I think what’s important here is that we don’t kill our dreams but rather, keep striving and searching to fulfill that creative, child-like part of us for this is part of our journey and it is what makes life interesting.

Today, we continue our work with the Crystal Visions Tarot by Jennifer Galasso.

So the three cards drawn randomly from the Crystal Visions Tarot today were: 9 of Cups, Queen of Swords, 6 of Swords

The three cards from the Crystal Visions Tarot by Jennifer Galasso

The 9 of Cups is the first card in our draw today and portrays a young woman sitting on a tree branch near a pond, her eyes closed and blowing dandelion puff into the breeze. This is about achieving our dreams and desires, our wishes coming true.

Maybe you’ve been thinking about the things that you really want to achieve this coming year like starting a new business, bringing financial abundance into your life, writing a play, writing a book or even finding a romantic partner. The 9 of Cups can represent the first step in this process: visualizing what you want to achieve and visualizing it so well that you can almost touch it.

The next step in the process in signified by our second card, the Queen of Swords. Here we see a serious-looking winged woman standing on what looks like to be a cloud and holding a sword. The light of the sunrise is reflecting off of her sword and she is surrounded by butterflies.

The Queen of Swords is about making clear decisions and having clarity of thought. She knows what she wants and goes after it. Once we decide on a goal, the next step is in making a decision and taking the necessary action in order to accomplish it. This queen is a problem-solver and calls for us to sit down and figure out what exactly we need to do to make this idea or goal a reality.

This is a good time to pull out a piece of paper – or your iDevice – and do some brainstorming. If you want to write a book, first you need to plan it out – figure out the plot. Then you need to set aside a non-negotiable amount of time every day and write. Then you need to do the work.

In our last card, we see a woman holding two swords with six crows or ravens circling overhead. There are 4 more swords behind her. This is about putting the past behind us. However many times you may have failed to achieve your goals in the past, it doesn’t matter.

What only matters is now, about resolving to accomplish what you set out to do. This is about putting those negative thoughts and beliefs behind us and focusing instead on our goals. You must believe in your self and in your ability to no longer allow doubt, procrastination or fear prevent you from doing what you set out to do. This is the first and most important step in finding and moving with a new sense of purpose.

Now this doesn’t mean you have to charge in full speed ahead. This is results in burnout. Instead, break down your goals into steps and accomplish one thing at a time:

You can easily reach from A to B.
Then move on from B to C.
You can then make it from C to D.
And so eventually, You’ll will find my way from A to Z.

So the message today for these three cards is:

“Pursue your dreams with resolve, strength and no past regrets. Taking one step at a time will get you there.”

So today’s advice card comes from The Symbolon Deck and the card drawn randomly from the deck was: The Partner

Partner card from the Symbolon Deck

So while the Partner card can point to another person in your life, I very often see this card as representing the need to bring balance into our life, to find and embrace those things that make us complete. This is about bringing together different aspects of yourself to help you find that completeness that many of us search for. Thinking back to our draw, this could mean finally accomplishing those things that have been ever consistent in our thoughts.

Now I do find it worth mentioning that yesterday’s card was the Wedding and today’s card is the Partner. For those of you in a relationship or contemplating a new one, these two cards do appear to give you the green light.

Today, we begin working with a new deck for the coming week and that deck is the Crystal Visions Tarot.

So the three cards drawn randomly from the Crystal Visions Tarot today were: 2 of Cups, The Chariot, 7 of Swords

The three cards from the Crystal Visions Tarot by Jennifer Galasso

A man and a woman stand facing each other, waist deep in water. The man appears to be pouring water into the woman’s cup and a full moon shines overhead. This is about a partnership or a new relationship. It may represent a new bond, a new union or even a business partnership.

It’s a positive card and a welcome one in a relationship reading. The man pouring his water into the woman’s cup may signify that a relationship offer is coming your way. This doesn’t have to mean a romantic relationship – it might be a business relationship, a business partnership or the beginning of a new romantic love.

The 2 of Cups also deals with the bonds that are formed between friends so the couple in this card may represent a deep meaningful friendship. It may be a reminder to us for the need to make time for our friends and the important people in our life.

To keep a relationship going requires effort and action, as suggested by our second card, the Chariot. Next to the 2 of Cups, I see this as taking the relationship to the next level. If there a relationship in your life that’s just beginning, the Chariot advises that you need to tend to it, nurture it so that it can move forward, whether this be in regards to a new boyfriend/girlfriend or a new business contact. It might even be reminding us that we need to add a little movement with any of the important current relationships in our life. When’s the last time you invited your best friend out to dinner or coffee? In fact, when’s the last time you had a “date night” with your spouse or partner? Today might be a good time to do it.

In our last card, we see a winged man trying to protect his swords from the crows that are stealing them right out from under him. The 7 of Swords is associated with treachery and deception and taking in consideration the last two cards, we might have a warning here to carefully scrutinize any new relationship in your life. There might be someone who’s recently come into your life that may not have your best interests at heart.

This could be a new person at work or someone you’ve encountered online. Though today’s cards do encourage us to spend time on our relationships and take steps to move them forward, we also at the same time need to be wary of anyone who might be taking advantage of us.

Unfortunately, not everyone we meet is genuine and some folks do have dodgey ulterior motives. You may have even recently been the victim of such a person and have had your trust recently betrayed. If so, know that this type of thing happens to many of us. The only thing to do is to chalk it up as life experience and move on – and maybe promise ourselves that we’ll be a little more cautious next time around. What’s important here I think too, is to be careful not to close ourself off from others because of one bad apple.

So the message today for these three cards is:

“In the end, we only regret the chances we didn’t take and the relationships we didn’t pursue. But – we want to make sure that they are based love, respect and trust.”

So today’s advice card comes from The Symbolon Deck and the card drawn randomly from the deck was: Wedding

Wedding card from the Symbolon Deck

Okay, so maybe love really is in the air today! The wedding card is about love and union. Whether this be in regards to a new love or an existing relationship, the Wedding card tells us that the journey we’re on may be best taken with another. So be open to creating new relationships, friendships or partnerships as well as putting your energies into existing ones. Remember – it is our loved ones that provide the joy in our lives.

Daily Tarot Map for January 9, 2016

This is Your Daily Tarot Map for Saturday January 9, 2016 – Using Tarot To Create the Life you want (transcript below).

Today, we conclude our work with the Thelema Tarot as tomorrow we begin working with a new deck for the coming week.

So the three cards drawn randomly from the Thelema Tarot today were: The Empress [ID], 8 of Swords [ID], 7 of Pentacles [ID]

The three cards from the Thelema Tarot by Renata Lechner and Jaymi Elford

First off, it’s worth mentioning right off the bat that all three of our cards today are ill-dignified or in other words, badly aspected by their surrounding cards.

The first card in our draw is the beautiful Empress, seated on a throne, surrounded by lush greenery. She is the Mother archetype and represents fertility, abundance and creativity.

In her ill-dignified position here however, that creativity may be blocked. Maybe you’re just not feeling it these days for whatever reason. Something in your life is not growing as it should. Perhaps this is a new project or side business that you’ve been planning but just haven’t gotten off the ground.

Or maybe you’re in the midst of a creative project but you’re unsure of where to go next. In some cases, this might even point to undeveloped creativity. That is to say, you have the talent but haven’t taken any steps to do anything with it, to bring it into fruition.

We all feel blocked from time to time and the best remedy to overcome the block is to keep plodding forward regardless of how we’re feeling as suggested by our second card, the 8 of Swords, which makes an appearance for the second time this week. If you remember, this card is about feeling stuck, trapped and unable to move.

But in its ill-dignified state, we see movement once again. Remember earlier this week I mentioned that the gaps in the swords are large enough for her to get through? Now is the time for us to squeeze through those gaps. This is about releasing ourself from our self-imposed prison by forcing ourself to make a move.

Yes, I did say self-imposed because many of our creative blocks are because of doubt or a lack of self-confidence. By working through the blocks often helps in smashing them down. I’ve forced myself to write when I felt completely block and after a few minutes to my surprise, the words began flowing.

We get that same idea again with our last card, the 7 of Pentacles, which also makes a second appearance this week. This card can be about indecision, hesitancy and assessment – perhaps assessment to the extreme. The idea of analysis paralysis comes to mind here.

But in it’s ill-dignified state, this card represents the end of procrastination. We can only play the “should I or shouldn’t I” game for so long. At some point, we have to make a move if we want to reach our goals. Yes, it might be challenging and we will no doubt have our good days and bad days. But think about a year or two from now, and how much better off you’ll be – or at least, how much closer to your goals you’ll be – if you take action now.

So the message today for these three cards is:

“If we wait around for inspiration, we may be waiting forever. Once we make a move, inspiration will find us.”

So today’s advice card comes from The Symbolon Deck and the card drawn randomly from the deck was: The Disagreement

Disagreement card from the Symbolon Deck

So the disagreement card is about discovering the bone of contention and fixing it. If you find yourself in disagreements with others today, ensure that they are resolved at the end of the day. Leaving harsh words or unthoughtful actions to fester, causes even more damage in the long run. Make sure all parties agree at the end – even if it’s to disagree in harmony. This might be where our daily draw comes in – and the need to overcome those blocks to harmony. Until you do, you may be unable to move forward with a relationship or a situation. So today, work on ironing out any differences that may come up with others and try to find a solution that benefits everyone.

Daily Tarot Map for January 8, 2016

This is Your Daily Tarot Map for Friday January 8, 2016 – Using Tarot To Create the Life you want (transcript below).

Happy Friday everyone!

So this week, we are working with the Thelema Tarot, created by Renata Lechner, with the companion book written by Jaymi Elford.

So the three cards drawn randomly from the Thelema Tarot today were: 4 of Cups, The Magician, Queen of Cups

The three cards from the Thelema Tarot by Renata Lechner and Jaymi Elford

The first card in our draw, the 4 of Cups, is a card that I sometimes refer to as “The Daydream Card”. Here we see a woman who appears to be brooding or daydreaming, sitting on a large flower. Dark storm clouds seem to be gathering overhead.

Now when I called this the Daydream card, I meant fantasizing about something other than what we have. This is often about feeling closed off from life, or feeling apathetic and dissatisfied with the way things things are at the moment. It’s a card of discontentment, of losing interest and possibly wishful thinking.

Sometimes no matter what our intentions, we feel like we stuck in a rut or that everything seems stale and unsatisfying. Maybe you feel that this isn’t what you wanted your life to be like, that you were meant for better things.

Well there’s good news. You can change this, as suggested by our second card, The Magician. He realizes that the only way to make things happen in his life and to change his situation more to his liking, is to do it himself. Ruled by Mercury, this is a card of movement and taking action.

The Magician’s appearance in a reading reminds us that we can create something more amazing and powerful in our own lives. The Magician tells us that we have everything we need to succeed. If we don’t like the current situation that we’re in, we can use the energy of the Magician to change it.

If you think and focus on failure, then that’s what we’ll get. The situation for the person in the 4 of Cups card isn’t going to change unless she takes steps herself to change it. And that’s that key phrase: taking steps.

Our life isn’t going to change by itself. It will take focused concentration, self-confidence and unwavering determination. But this card tells us that we have the ability to pull it off.

So there’s no reason why THIS cannot be your year to shine.

I like the way this spread ends with the lovely Queen of Cups. I sometimes call this the “following your heart” card. If we take the advice of the past two cards, the road will lead us to happiness and fulfillment, two qualities often seen this queen. Now if we’re undecided on what direction to go, the Queen of Cups asks that we listen to our intuition, to what our gut is telling you. What is it that brings you joy? What is it that makes your soul sing? That is the answer.

So the message today for these three cards is:

Boredom is the conviction that we cannot change our lives. But with focused concentration and unwavering determination, we can.”

So today’s advice card comes from The Symbolon Deck and the card drawn randomly from the deck was: The Servitor

Servitor card from the Symbolon Deck

When I look at this card, one message comes to mind: Gratitude. The woman in this image appears to be making an offering to spirit in thanks for a bountiful harvest. This makes a lot of sense in light of today’s draw.

Think back to our 4 of Cups card. What’s one thing that can get us out of a funk? Gratitude – by realizing all of the blessings we already have in our life and taking advantage of all of the opportunities available to us – and using the energy of the Magician to do so. Gratitude is one of the key ingredients for changing our situation. Without it, we stay put and rarely can move forward. But with it, our future is our own to shape.

Daily Tarot Map for January 7, 2016

This is Your Daily Tarot Map for Thursday January 7, 2016 – Using Tarot To Create the Life you want (transcript below).

So this week, we are working with the Thelema Tarot, created by Renata Lechner, with the companion book written by Jaymi Elford.

So the three cards drawn randomly from the Thelema Tarot today were: 6 of Pentacles, 7 of Pentacles, 2 of Cups

The three cards from the Thelema Tarot by Renata Lechner and Jaymi Elford

Our concerns are about the material realm today, as we see with our first two cards, the 6 and 7 of Pentacles. The first card is our draw, the 6 of Pentacles, displays a hand holding a balance, with the hand of the left stabilizing the balance and the cupped hand on the right ensuring that no coins fall off the balance. With the balance we get the idea of…you guessed it, balance and equilibrium.

This might pertain to your health, to your finances, or even to your career. I’m getting the idea here however, of time. You’re trying to keep the balance steady but there are hands out, asking or demanding your time. This could be several people vying for your attention or it could be the result of an over-ambitious schedule.

The idea of cutting back or turning away those who need our help may cause us to feel uncomfortable but we do need to think of ourselves as well. Just like those people or things that demand our time, we too have obligations and dreams we want and need to fulfill. It might be time to take stock to see if we can cut back on anything in our busy lives.

This idea is supported by our second pentacles card, the 7 of Pentacles, in which we see a woman standing before a tree that is bearing 7 pentacles. She seems unsure of which ones to pluck. This card is often associated with a fruitful harvest, but it is also a card of assessment, especially about the choices we’ve made – all of those things that we mentioned a moment ago that are taking up your time. Do these things that really matter to you or are there obligations or hobbies that once seemed attractive and exciting but now have lost their luster?

This might even be your career. We all change with time and those things that once filled us with excitement and joy might now have transformed into a burden. What I’m getting from these two card is that whatever it is, it is causing unbalance in your life. It might be time for a change.

If we view these cards today as a progression, then the result of pruning your tree as it were, leads to harmony and satisfaction, as suggested by our last card, the 2 of Cups. This is a card of union, satisfaction and joy and often appears when we’re able to reconcile the different aspects of our life to find balance. It’s about restoring harmony and rebalance. Once you cut out those things from your schedule or life that are taking away your joy, you may soon find that joy and harmony restored. Sometimes even the smallest change can make the biggest difference.

So the message today for these three cards is:

“We will never find the time to do that things we want to do – we must make the time. Making the necessary adjustments can restore the balance and harmony in your life.”*

So today’s advice card comes from The Symbolon Deck and the card drawn randomly from the deck was: The Preacher

Preacher card from the Symbolon Deck

The first thing I thought of when I saw this card was: Stop! The preacher has his palms facing outward, as though he’s asking us to stop what we’re doing and evaluate. Are we on the right path? Is there anything in our life that feels out of sorts? The Preacher suggests that a new outlook may be required. Sometimes, it helps to take a breather and see if the path we’re on is still the correct one for us. If not, what can you do to change that?

Daily Tarot Map for January 6, 2016

This is Your Daily Tarot Map for Wednesday, January 6, 2016 – Using Tarot To Create the Life you want (transcript below).

So this week, we are working with the Thelema Tarot, created by Renata Lechner, with the companion book written by Jaymi Elford.

So the three cards drawn randomly from the Thelema Tarot today were: Page of Swords, 2 of Wands, 10 of Cups

The three cards from the Thelema Tarot by Renata Lechner and Jaymi Elford

OK, so yesterday we talked about the need to focus on what we want to change in our lives and narrow down our goal list to those things that are truly important. Well, today, we’re ready to begin implementing our plans.

The first card is our draw is the Page of Swords and here he is depicted as a determined-looking young man holding a sword and standing on a cloud-covered balcony. This card is about finding your personal power. If you remember, back in the old days, those who held the sword, had the power. So in this way, this card is about determination and planning, while being ever vigilant to that which may thwart his goals. Negative thinking and procrastination come to mind here.

This is also the card of the seeker, the searcher of knowledge so today, you might find yourself with a desire to do some research, perhaps to expand on an idea you have or to learn something new, that may help you with your goals. The Page of Swords is about discovery, gathering facts and is ready to challenge himself mentally. So today’s a day to take the bull by the horns and get a jump start on those 2016 goals.

The idea of planning is further continued in our next card, the 2 of Wands, in which we see an elegantly-dressed woman standing on the balcony looking outward. This is the second card featuring a balcony. This speaks to me of having the advantage, of being in a superior position.

The hawk circling above her speaks to me of mental processes, of the intellect. Given that the numerical value of this card is 2 suggests that we are still in the beginning stages. This is the decision and planning stage so it’s possible you’ll need to make a decision today, perhaps decided between that which you are used to or a new life path or direction, probably related to the information gathering we saw with our page of swords.

This card is more than simply taking something into consideration. It’s is about action. It’s worth mentioning here that both the swords suit and the wands suit are action cards so maybe it’s time to move things off of your “someday” list and into the concrete world of manifestation.

And they lived happily ever after…..or so says our last card, the 10 of Cups. This is the second time that our family of swans makes an appearance this week and this card brings with it ideas of happiness, attainment, harmony, and fulfillment. But…not yet.

You see, this watery card is ill-dignified by the fiery card next to it so though those feeling we just mentioned are definitely attainable, the ill-dignified position of this card says “Not yet. There’s still more work to be done.” Many of us give up on our dreams, goals and projects when they don’t happen quickly enough. We start a business and decide 4 months later, that it’s a failure before it ever got a chance to take off.

This sequence of cards today reminds us that there’s more to success than just planning and determination. We also have to give it time. Don’t be too hasty to throw in the towel if things don’t pan out right away. Even the best ideas and ventures take time to percolate.

So the message today for these three cards is:

“The difference between a successful person and others is not only planning and determination. It is also having an infinite amount of patience.”

So today’s advice card comes from The Symbolon Deck and the card drawn randomly from the deck was: Articulation

Articulation card from the Symbolon Deck

The Articulation card makes an appearance for the second time this week. If you remember, this card is about talking about your feelings, about saying and expressing what’s on your mind. This is especially important if you work on a team or are a leader of any kind. We can’t expect people to be mind readers. Verbally express your desires and expectations.

This card is also quite relevant to today’s draw. How can we accomplish goals or dreams if we don’t know exactly what they are? You have a much better chance of achieving goals if they are clearly defined. For instance, instead of saying: I’m going to write more in the coming year, say: I will write at least 400 words per day. Instead of saying: I will lose weight in 2016, say: I will be 195 lbs by August 1st. Well-articulated goals are much more achievable. Today might be a good day to review your goal list and make adjustments where necessary.

That’s your Daily Tarot Map for today. Brightest Blessings!

Daily Tarot Map for January 5, 2016

This is Your Daily Tarot Map for Tuesday, January 5, 2016 – Using Tarot To Create the Life you want (transcript below).

So this week, we are working with the Thelema Tarot, created by Renata Lechner, with the companion book written by Jaymi Elford.

So the three cards drawn randomly from the Thelema Tarot today were: 8 of Swords, 9 of Pentacles, 3 of Wands

The three cards from the Thelema Tarot by Renata Lechner and Jaymi Elford

Our first card, the 8 of Swords, portrays a blindfolded woman on her knees in shallow water. The clouds above her are dark and ominous. We definitely do not get a warm and fuzzy feeling from this card and rightly so, as it is usually associated with feeling trapped and restricted, of being unable to move forward.

But the good news, is that this air card is ill-dignified by the earth card next to it, advising us that it may be time to take some action to extract ourself from any situation that we find confining or restricting us. That’s to say, any situation that is not in alignment with our goals or values or that is preventing us from moving to where we want to be.

If we look in the image, there is a wide gap between the swords, more than enough room for the woman to leave if she desired. She simply has to remove her blindfold and leave – detach herself emotionally and perhaps physically from the situation.

In our next card, the 9 of Pentacles, we see another solitary woman but this time, there are no barriers surrounding her. She strolls through a lush garden with a falcon on her arm. This card is about enjoying the good things in life – about receiving reward for our hard work.

It’s about attaining your dreams. Given that it’s next to the 8 of Swords, I see this card as letting us know what’s possible once we remove ourself from the situation or from the negative thought patterns that hold us back. It’s been said that once we take positive action, the universe conspires in our favor.

This may or may not be true, but what is true, is that nothing can happen if we do nothing. So many of us have a head full of dreams, things that we going to start tomorrow, or next week, or next month. Yet time passes and many of us still haven’t taken initiative.

And initiative is what our last card, the 3 of Wands is about. Here we see someone standing on the shore at sunrise, waiting for their ship to come in…literally. This card about daring….about putting yourself out there and seeing what happens.

It advises us to look outward and to direct our energy into the future. This card nicely supports the idea of the previous card, showing us what is attainable if we’re willing to do the work. The beginning of a new year is a great time for change.

Maybe it’s time to dip your toe into the waters of possibility to see what happens.

So the message today for these three cards is:

“Not all things that are faced can be changed. But nothing can be changed, unless it is faced.”

So today’s advice card comes from The Symbolon Deck and the card drawn randomly from the deck was: The Angel

Angel card from the Symbolon Deck

What a beautiful card this is! Here we see a lovely angel pouring water from a basin…releasing it, as it were. This card ties in nicely with the theme of today’s reading – that of releasing and letting go of that which no longer serves us or keeps us restricted.

Remember that poor woman in the 8 of Swords? Well, this card advises us that it’s time to release whatever it is that is keeping us trapped, restricted, or even in fear and just as the water flows out of her basin, into the river leading towards the rainbow, so to can we move on to a more satisfying stage of our life once we release those things that keep us trapped. So what’s in your bucket that needs to be poured out once and for all?

Daily Tarot Map for January 4, 2016

This is Your Daily Tarot Map for Monday, January 4, 2016 – Using Tarot To Create the Life you want (transcript below).

So this week, we are working with the Thelema Tarot, created by Renata Lechner, with the companion book written by Jaymi Elford.

So the three cards drawn randomly from the Thelema Tarot today were: Justice, The Moon, Temperance

The three cards from the Thelema Tarot by Renata Lechner and Jaymi Elford

So we start out our Monday with three heavy hitters: Justice, The Moon and Temperance. The first card in our draw today, Justice, is about balance and equilibrium. This may be especially relevant for many of us who are starting the new year out with a huge list of resolutions.

We often fail because we try to change so much at one time that we end up feeling overwhelmed and end by throwing in the towel. We have a much better chance of succeeding if we make small, incremental changes.

Don’t try to lose 75 pounds, quit smoking, quit drinking, exercising an hour a day, stop procrastinating, save money, learn Spanish and learn guitar at once. This is a sure recipe for failure. Instead, start small by choosing only one or two.

Maybe start by picking a diet January and sticking with it for a month. Come February, maybe exercise for 10 minutes each day. Then move it up to 12 minutes. The key here is balance. In some decks, this card is called Adjustment and while we may need or want to make adjustments to our life, we need to do so with a careful plan all the while maintaining equilibrium. Adjustment is about changing a bit here and a bit there until we find the right combination.

And we are going to run into some tough times, which is represented by our middle card, The Moon. This is the point where we begin to lose our focus or become confused about our initial goals. Thus, the Moon can be a card of confusion or even fear. Fear that we’re going to fail, fear that we not doing the “right” thing. Our shadow side loves to interrupt our well-intentioned plans and goals by guiding us toward over-indulgence, procrastination or simply giving up.

What strikes me here, is that given that The Moon is about cyclic pattern, I see this as perhaps asking us whether there are predictable patterns to our behavior. Do we begin every new year with a huge list of resolutions that we never manage to accomplish? If so, why? What can we do differently this time to change this cycle of failure? You know, recognizing the patterns in our life is the first step to changing those never-ending cycles and instead, instilling permanent, positive habits.

So what’s required? We’re back to the idea of balance again, as suggested by our last card, Temperance. With this card one phrase jumps out at me: One Day at a time. Temperance is about a need for balance, about finding and maintaining the middle ground. Yes, you can accomplish your goals but perhaps not all at once. We want to temper our life here and work on finding the right combinations, which does take a bit of trial and error. We don’t want to over do it. By making a few small changes at a time, we have the best chance in turning those changes into permanent habits.

So the message today for these three cards is:

“Don’t try to change too much in your life at once. A solid building is first planned, then created, one brick at at time.”

So today’s advice card comes from The Symbolon Deck and the card drawn randomly from the deck was: The Marionette

Marionette card from the Symbolon Deck

In this card, we see a woman puppet or doll being lead and pulled about by strings. With all this talk about resolutions, changes and habits, we might want to stop and ask ourselves: what is it really we’re trying to achieve? Are the changes we want to make truly something we want or are they what someone else wants or expects of us? Or is a desire to conform to some ideal of what we “think” we should be like? Are we trying to be someone or something we’re not?

The Marionette cards asks us to examine our true intentions and discover whether the changes we want to make truly come from our heart or from somewhere or someone else entirely. Maybe it’s time to cut those puppet strings and no longer be controlled by the superficial values or ideals of others. This is often the most difficult change we can make but also the most rewarding.

Daily Tarot Map for January 3, 2016

This is Your Daily Tarot Map for Sunday, January 3, 2016

 (transcript below).

Thank you for joining me! First of all, Happy New Year to everyone! I’m glad to be back after a brief hiatus due to an interesting project that landed in my lap. Well, the project is winding down giving me a bit more time to bring you these daily videos as well as more goodies in the coming year.

So this week, we are working with the Thelma Tarot, created by Renate Lechner, with the companion book written by Jaymi Elford. This is a relatively new deck to my collection and I haven’t worked with it all that much yet. But I will say that the artwork is vivid and stunning so I hope you’ll enjoy our work with it in the coming week.

So the three cards drawn randomly from the Thelema Tarot today were: 3 of Cups, 10 of Cups, 3 of Pentacles

The three cards from the Thelema Tarot by Renata Lechner and Jaymi Elford

What a lovely group of cards to have for the beginning of our new year. The first card, the 3 of Cups, is a card of friendship, socializing and celebration, which makes sense given that we are coming out of THE major party weekend of the year. This is a card that celebrates our connectedness with others and often asks us to take stock of our relationships. Many of us make New Year’s Resolutions this time of year and an excellent one to make is to promise ourselves that we will make more time for our family and friends – those loved ones who are so important to us. It’s so easy to neglect those relationships when we get busy. I know I’m guilty of this as well. So this year, let’s start out by intending to nurture our relationships with those important people in our life. This might include attending celebrational activities such holidays and birthdays, sending out birthday cards to your loved ones, scheduling weekly or monthly outings, inviting your loved ones to dinner, or making a point to call them each week.

This idea is further supported by our second card, the 10 of Cups, a card of emotional fulfillment. It’s often tied to happy families or relationships, nicely signified by the family of swans in this card. It’s about being grateful for those people in our lives and again, might serve as a gentle nudge for us to take an active role in those relationships. Take “heart-centered” actions that promote the unity of your family or friendships. Sometimes, it’s up to us to plan those activities that bring everyone together.

Our last card, the 3 of Pentacles, supports today’s theme as well. This is a card of synthesis, of bring different elements together. But it is also a card of work and a card of focus, two qualities often necessary to sustain our relationships. Like flowers in a garden, our relationship too needs to be watered and tended to regularly. It is often helpful to remember that it is only through others – the people in our lives – where we can truly find fulfillment. Nothing is fulfilling if there is nobody to share it with.

So the message today for these three cards is:

“Let the people in your life know how much you love them. People may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.”

So today’s advice card comes from The Symbolon Deck and the card drawn randomly from the deck was: Articulation

Articulation card from the Symbolon Deck

We see this theme of relationships continue with the Articulation in which Hermes or Mercury comforts a woman appearing to be in emotional distress. This card reminds us not to forget about our loved ones when we might need a friendly ear. We don’t have to carry the weight of the world on our shoulders and oftentimes, simply taking about what’s troubling us can help in lightening our burdens. Don’t be afraid to reach out if times get tough for a friend or loved one may come up with a different view or perspective on the matter – one we hadn’t thought of ourselves.

Daily Tarot Map for October 25, 2015 – Last One For Now

This is Your Daily Tarot Map for Sunday, October 25, 2015 – Using Tarot to create the life you want (transcript below).

I just wanted to let everyone know that this will be the last Daily Tarot Map video for the time being. A new project that is very time-intensive has just fallen into my lap so I’m going to need to put all of my focus into that in the coming days. Now this doesn’t mean that the channel is closing – I’ll still be posting deck reviews, tarot tips and such. I’m just not able to commit to a daily video at the moment. I am thinking to possibly doing monthly readings by astrological sign so keep your eyes open for that.

So on today’s reading.

Today, I’m using the Bohemian Gothic Tarot by the fine folks at Baba Studios and the three cards drawn randomly from the Ghost Tarot today were: The Star, Two of Cups, Queen of Cups

The three cards from the Bohemian Gothic Tarot by Karen Mahoney and Alex Ukolov

The first card in our draw today is The Star. If I’m not mistaken, I believe we just saw this card in our draw last week. So the Star is a card of healing and optimism. It usually appears to tell us that things are on an upswing and that there’s hope, especially in the wake of difficult period of time.

So as you begin your week, the Star lets us know that there are some great opportunities to let your own light shine. To be a star, as it were. Play your cards right and others will begin noticing your talent and creativity. If you’re looking to bring desires into reality, the Star is the push for you to do it.

Our second card, the 2 of Cups, is about partnerships and working with others – about finding common ground. Maybe you’ll be responsible for bringing people together. When we put ourself out there, this can lead to some interesting proposals and opportunities coming our way so we might want to keep this in mind this week, because with this card sometimes comes proposals of all kinds so be open to that this week. If we do the work and get yourself noticed, all sorts of doors may begin to open for us.

You may even be engaging with new people as the week progresses. This could be in a social setting, business setting, friendship or even online. Think cooperation here as well. If you run an online business or endeavor, this week might be an excellent time to reach out to your mailing list. Given that the 2 of cups is also a card of love, romance and attraction, this might be something that’s developing for some of you in the days to come.

Our last card, the Queen of Cups, is a card of intuition, of going with your gut. Listen to your hunches and they should lead you in the right direction. She’s also about opening herself up to the flow of the universe, much like we saw with the Star card so this coming week is not the time to be guarded and reclusive but rather be open and make yourself available. You can’t win the game if you don’t show up on the field. So today, begin connecting and reaching out to others. You might be surprised at where it will take you.

So the message today for these three cards is:

Today’s the day to let your light shine. Reaching out to others and putting yourself out into the world may open up doors that you weren’t even aware of.

So today’s advice card comes from The Symbolon Deck and the card drawn randomly from the deck was: Deliverance.

Deliverance card from the Symbolon Deck

This card supports wonderfully the theme of today’s reading. Here we see someone breaking out of his or her shell. Yes, it can be frightening to put ourselves out there and we may feel vulnerable doing so. But simply by taking that first step, you’re doing what many others are not: reaching out to your community and getting yourself noticed. Today’s a good day to break through those boundaries and shine.

That’s your Daily Tarot Map for now. Thank you so much for watching and I’ll see you again soon!

Brightest Blessings!

This week, we are working with Ghost Tarot, created by Davide Corsi.

So the three cards drawn randomly from The Ghost Tarot today were: The Moon, 7 of Coins, 10 of Swords

from the Ghost Tarot by Davide Corsi

Today we’re going to take a journey into our psyche which is illustrated by our first card the moon. This card is about taking a walk on the wild side of ourselves. I see this as a need to allow our playful side to come through, to listen to our instincts and hunches and in the process, maybe step outside the box a bit.

Many of us become frustrated by our own behavior, whether it be procrastination, lack of motivation, lack of follow-through. But not only that, we then allow that frustration to seep into our thoughts and chisel at our self-esteem and our productivity.

Instead of frustration, we may need to figure out why our behavior isn’t up to our expectations. Are our expectations too high? Are we trying to squeeze ourself into a box that doesn’t fit us? I think that many of us procrastinate because our heart isn’t into what we’re doing. If we’re doing a job we hate than it’s difficult to be motivated.

This might be a call for us to try something different, to step outside the expected. Your subconscious mind stores data from things we see, hear, want and desire and combines this data into hunches, perhaps into an idea that at first glance, seems out of character for us. But listening to these hunches can often point to those issues that are holding us back or yearnings that we’ve been ignoring. If you’re writing a book on a topic you hate or have grown bored with, then it may be time to change.

What’s key here, is to realize however is that if we continuously focus on our negative qualities, we’ll generate more of the same, as suggested by our second card, the 7 of Coins. This eerie depiction of coins growing on trees in a dark, somber environment suggests that whether we plant seeds in the darkness or the light, they will grow.

That is to say, if we think we’re lazy, untalented and unmotivated, then it will be so. If we continue to do what we hate, then that hate will grow. We may need to reexamine our goals to see if they’re still in alignment with our values and with what we really want out of life. Sometimes taking and in-depth look at our bad habits can help us to identify their cause and provide us the motivation and solutions to move past them.

I know someone who thought all of his life that he should be an accountant. He got his degree, passed his CPA exam but then realized that it was all a lie. That when he really thought about it, he realized that he loathed accounting. He’d been on the wrong track this whole time time. So he changed careers and now is happy. So I see today’s cards as asking us to take a peek at our shadow side to see if we can determine why those negative thoughts and feelings are surfacing and what we can do to change them. For some of us, it may be time to change our situation.

It may be time to get out of our own way, as suggested by our last card, the 10 of Swords. Now typically, this is a card representing ruin and hitting rock bottom. For the fellow in this card, it can’t get much worse than a sword in the heart.

But this card is ill-dignified by the earth card next to it so I see this as suggesting that with a bit of self-reflection, we can put an end to our suffering and move past that which is keeping us stuck. This card indicates a need to make a change, to get out of our own way and our old perceptions of what we are. Perhaps we need to create an entirely new story.

So the message today for these three cards is:

If we don’t watch out, putting out negative thoughts and behavior becomes as instinctive as putting on our clothes in the morning. But once we recognize them and discover their source, we can’t help but to change our life in the process.

So today’s advice card comes from The Symbolon Deck and the card drawn randomly from the deck was: The Marionette.

Marionette card from the Symbolon Deck

So we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect card for today’s reading. The Marionette is a puppet being pulled by invisible strings, just as many of us are puppets being lead around by the expectation of others about what we should be and should be doing. Many of us have an image of ourself, of what we should be and are led through our lives by that image, regardless of whether it fits us or not.

We may try to mimic the success of others, to take on their qualities in an effort to make ourself more like then. But in the end, this rarely works because that is their path, not ours. The trick is to find our true self, to cut the strings of illusion and to take the path that’s meant for us.

This week, we are working with the Ghost Tarot, created by Davide Corsi.

So the three cards drawn randomly from the Ghost Tarot today were: Knight of Swords, 5 of Wands, 8 of Cups

The three cards from the Ghost Tarot by Davide Corsi

So the first card in our the draw today is the Knight of Swords. Here we see the ghostly figure of a knight on horseback, sword raised ready for battle. This card indicates swiftness, movement, and the need to charge forward. This is not someone who hesitates, but rather flies in, full speed ahead. So for some of you, today may be a bit on the hectic side. But not only that, you may find yourself being challenged or getting dragged into an argument or conflict of some kind.

This is supported by a second card, the Five of Wands. This is the second time this week that this card has made an appearance and it’s all about strife, confrontation, arguments, and struggles. So some of you may find yourself in the midst of a challenging situation today. In fact, you may even have a tendency to “stoke the fire” a bit, which is typical Knight of Swords behavior.

The caution here, is to maintain a level head no matter how escalated the situation becomes. We all have a tendency to lose our temper when emotions run high so today, perhaps a bit of extra restraint will be necessary.

The last card, the Eight of Cups, traditionally signifies walking away from an emotional situation. However, this card is ill-dignified by the fire card next to it so as such, I see it as telling us that now is not the time to leave a situation. Now antagonistic energy that we saw with the last couple of cards may cause us to want to throw our hands up in the air and walk away.

Don’t. Instead, work on recognizing the importance and value of the situation and see how you can improve things. And rather than charging in by yourself like the rash knight with his sword drawn, we may need to engage others and work with others. Try to see the situation from the point of view of the other people involved and see if you can find a common ground. I guess the key point here, is that no matter how challenging and difficult things may appear, they can be worked out, especially if the people involved can work together.

So the message today for these three cards is:

“Conflict avoidance is not the hallmark of good relationships, but knowing when to fight is just as important as knowing how. Conflict can and should be handled constructively, with all parties working on finding a middle ground.

The fall card from the Symbolon Deck

So today’s advice card comes from The Symbolon Deck and the card drawn randomly from the deck was: The Fall.

So the Fall card is about fall of the ego or loss of power. Somebody may have bested you in a situation. Perhaps you won’t come out the victor at the other end of those conflicts we mentioned a moment ago. I think this card can open our eyes and let us know that others have a right to be on top as well – to have their moment in the sun, and to always strive to win at all costs can make us look foolish, much like the jester we see depicted in this card. Sometimes we have to move aside and let our compatriots share in the glory. For that is what true teamwork is all about.

This week, we are working with Ghost Tarot, created by Davide Corsi.

So the three cards drawn randomly from the Ghost Tarot today were: The Stars, 5 of Cups, King of Wands

The three cards from the Ghost Tarot by Davide Corsi

In this deck, Trump 17 has been renamed The Stars and signifies looking to the heavens for the answer to what may be troubling us. It’s no mistake that the Star card follows the Tower as it suggests picking up the pieces and putting ourself back together after going through a really tough time.

The meaning of hope is typically assigned to this card but this is hope following healing, and that’s what may be needed for some of you: taking the time to heal our bodies and/or our spirits.

Many of us go through a tough time but continue to forge on without taking the proper time to heal, leaving pieces of us behind as we do so. This might be a call to take some alone time, see a physican or therapist as the situation prescribes or simply acknowledge the part of you that needs healing.

Now our second card, the 5 of Cups, may point the reason we need to heal: Loss. This is a heart-wrenching image as a man watches his loved one sail away and into the light, leaving the earthly plane behind. But notice that he is waving. He’s not screaming, crying or pleading for his loved one to stay. There comes a time when we have to realize that something has ended and that hanging on only keeps us stuck in an unhealthy emotional situation.

Yes, I know. This is a lot easier said than done. It’s never easy to let go of something or someone that was once important to us. But eventually, let go we must. This might be a relationship that has run its course, a friendship where you both have drifted apart, or a job or career that no longer fulfills you.

Yes, we’re bound to feel disappointment but refusing to let go prevents us from healing and moving on. It might be time to let go of the ex and instead, begin searching for someone with whom you can build a real future. It might be time to set yourself free.

The first step in this may be in determining what we want out of our life and being adamant in achieving it, as suggested by our last card, the King of Wands. This is a card of fiery personal power, power that some of us might have to unearth if we’re to move to that place of healing we mentioned in the past two cards.

But by taking authority and having an actual plan for our future, we can move past that “stuck” stage and get back into our life. This might be a decision such as: “I will find a healthy, fulfilling relationship with a loving person” or “I will be a successful and thriving entrepreneur”.

Having a direction is one of the most important aspects of healing because without it, we only continue to flail around aimlessly, not quite sure what to do with our life. So today would be a great day to take a pen and paper, and plot out your direction. For some of you, it may be time to reinvent yourself.

So the message today for these three cards is:

We can either to react to our past with resentfulness and bitterness or seek to transform the suffering into a creative force. By finding our power, we overcome the dark and press on to brighter world.

So today’s advice card comes from The Symbolon Deck and the card drawn randomly from the deck was: Phoenix.

Phoenix card from the Symbolon Deck

Well, we couldn’t have asked for a better card for our advice card. The Phoenix is a card of transformation, of renewal and of liberation. It often asks us to realize that a phase of our life is over and that it’s time to rise from the ashes and reinvent ourself. This is the ultimate card of letting go. It’s about letting old situations and emotions die and moving past. It doesn’t mean we forget the past. It only means that we no longer allow it to define us.

That’s your Daily Tarot Map for today. Brightest Blessings!
