Deck: The Wizard’s Tarot This post is part of my 45 Experiment: Using the daily tarot draw to bring more financial abundance into our life. I will be using the Wizard’s Tarot by Corrine Kenner and John J. Bluemen for this experiment’s deck.
Day 23: What can I do to bring more financial abundance into my life?
5 of Cups
The 5 of Cups is a card of disappointment, despair and sorrow – a lack of hope. It’s no surprise that this card, associated with Scorpio, falls on the first decan of Halloween/Samhain – a time of mystery and honoring the dead.
In a business/finances reading, this card can come up when we focus too much on our failures and not enough on our successes. I have spoken with many people over the years who have “given up” because it seemed that everything they tried was a failure or did not turn out as they expected. Yes, it is true that every product or idea we try will not be a success and there definitely will be some failures and setbacks along the way. But it is important to keep in mind that there can NEVER be success if we don’t at least try. How many failures did Edison experience before he got the lightbulb to work?
If we experience many failures in a row, there’s no doubt that it can sap our motivation and cause us to “give up hope” and instead, just accept what life dishes out to us. And therein lies the mistake that so many people make – the mistake of giving in and giving up. If we experience failure, we need to pick up the pieces and move on to something else. Or look for new and challenging ways in which we can make our current project work. But what’s important, is that we don’t let the setbacks sap our will and passion – that we keep motivated to create and continue to move in new directions.
Pessimism can be a true killer of creativity. It is often said that we get what we think about. So if you think about failure, harsh criticism, uncertainty or lack of success, you will receive more of these exact same things. Thus, this card advises a change in your thought patterns – to develop success and money mindset instead of a failure and lack mindset. It might be a good idea to connect with a positive mentor or take a fun lifestyle or business class to get you back in the proper frame of mind. I personally recommend any of the free YouTube videos by Marie Forleo. You can also find them on her website.
When a failure does occur, spend a short time grieving and then move on to something new. These occurrences can help us to grow in wisdom so consider them a learning experience – a lesson on what not to do next time. But what’s important here, is that you let go of past fears and failures and look to the future with optimism. Take the first action steps to where you want to end up.
And when we do experience disappointment due to unfulfilled expectations, it never hurts to ask ourselves: Are our expectations truly realistic?
